Pioneer and leader in e-invoicing awarded Certified Platform Status, enabling finance teams to quickly and easily comply with new regulations, avoid penalties ahead of deadline

Paris, France - January 13, 2026 – As they look to the year ahead, CFOs in France are staring down a major tax reform with which they must comply. By September 1, all VAT-registered companies in the country will be required to exchange invoices and report on transactions electronically – or face significant penalties. Basware, a global leader in Invoice Lifecycle Management, can help them do this now and avoid future fines. The company today announced that Basware Invoice Lifecycle Management™ has been accredited as a Certified Platform (Plateforme Agrée – PA) by the General Directorate of Public Finance (DGFiP) to support the rollout of the mandate, giving finance organizations a powerful tool they can use to automate, control, and ensure compliance across the entire invoice lifecycle—from capture and validation to approval, payment, and audit readiness.

Aligned with the EU’s VAT in the Digital Age (ViDA) initiative, the 2026 French e-Invoicing and reporting mandate is designed to improve tax compliance and VAT transparency and reduce administrative burden and fraud through digital standards and automation. Failure to comply with the measure carries hefty costs:

  • €15 for each invoice not issued in the required electronic format
  • €250 per missing or late e-reporting of B2C and cross-border transactions

All told, French authorities estimate they could recoup €3bn a year. And this number is expected to rise.

“The France e-Invoicing Mandate is one of Europe’s most complex e-invoicing reforms, and the risks of non-compliance are clear. But so too are the opportunities for businesses that act decisively,” said Abigail Myers-Antiaye, VP of Global Compliance, Basware. “By moving beyond a box-ticking mindset and treating invoice compliance as a strategic priority, businesses can unlock growth, protect revenue, and strengthen trust with customers, investors, and regulators. This is exactly what Basware’s Invoice Lifecycle Management platform can help them do.”

A Model for Digital Transformation

According to research conducted by FT Longitude, 56% of finance leaders fear their systems can’t keep up with evolving mandates. Basware Invoice Lifecycle Management changes this. Built on decades of AP innovation, the platform combines AI-driven automation with the world’s largest AP dataset, built-in compliance and an open invoice network to give finance teams complete control over the entire invoice process and the visibility they need to make smarter, faster decisions.

Tomorrow’s Compliance Delivered Today

And forward-thinking companies like Carglass France are using it to drive a future-ready e-Invoicing process and get in compliance with the 2026 mandate ahead of schedule. Amid an ongoing ERP upgrade, Carglass completed a deployment of Basware’s automated invoice processing solution across 3,700 active suppliers in just seven months. The company now process 115,000 supplier invoices electronically on an annual basis and is well-positioned to drive continued compliance and operational efficiency as the new regulations take effect.

A Trusted Platform and Partner

Basware’s certification as a PA operator by the DGFiP follows the company’s successful completion of the full set of mandatory validations by the DGFiP, including end-to-end qualification tests with the Public Invoicing Platform (PPF), interoperability tests with other PA operators, and the submission and validation of all mandatory compliance documentation. The designation validates the scalability and regulatory compliance of the Basware Invoice Lifecycle Management platform and the company’s status as a trusted partner to meet one of Europe’s most sweeping tax reforms with confidence. It also reinforces Basware’s role as a long-term partner to the French finance ecosystem across customers, tax authorities and other PA operators.

“Achieving PA certification is a really important milestone for Basware and our France e-invoicing mandate program, affirming our ongoing commitment to help businesses navigate the evolving regulatory changes with simplicity and confidence,” said Markus Hornberg, SVP, Global Compliance, Basware. “Working with Basware, businesses know they have a trusted partner aligned with the future of French tax requirements, giving them complete peace of mind in the face of new regulatory demands.”
